Pattern Thinning Hair, is not actual Hair Loss

Something so simple yet so misunderstood. Pattern Thinning Hair is hair thinning in a specific pattern and location on the scalp that has been well documented throughout the decades. The distinct pattern can present as hair thinning or baldness at the front, top, crown and recessions of the scalp hair. This pattern of thinning will never effect the hair at the back of your head and is not actual hair loss. Hair loss is a term that is loosely used to describe any change in hair, but one must distinctly understand the difference between hair loss and pattern thinning hair.
Female Pattern Thinning hair and Male Pattern Thinning hair are not hair loss as in hair physically falling out. The use of the term ‘Hair Loss’ is misinterpreted and one may begin to think they have hair loss because the hair is visually thinning right where you can see it. When I ask client to describe their hair concern, most always use the term hair loss when pointing to the pattern thinning areas.
Pattern Thinning Hair, is not actual Hair Loss:
- Pattern thinning hair is hairs that are shrinking
- Normal terminal hairs are slowly shrinking to transitional hairs
- Transitional hairs are slowly shrinking to vellus hairs
- Vellus hairs are slowly shrinking and can become empty follicles
- Pattern thinning hair can be prevented naturally
- One just needs to understand the symptoms and causes
- Pattern thinning hair is not hair loss, the hair does not fall out, it is slowly shrinking
What we try to teach you with microscopic diagnosis is how to understand the difference between the hair cycle, the hair cell and pattern thinning hair. For most people what they think is pattern thinning hair is more commonly of a type of diffuse hair loss or diffuse hair thinning that is occurring all over the head, but only noticed at the front where it is easily noted with the eye. In the majority of cases, correcting the diffuse thinning hair problem at a cellular level, will have a positive effect on pattern thinning hair. Best results are always achieved following correct diagnosis with Absolique Trichologist Brisbane Carolyn Evans and following your individual recommended combination therapy.
Pattern thinning hair is caused by DHT (dihydrotestosterone). DHT is a natural part of every human body’s integumentary system. DHT is actually responsible for your body hair as well as having other responsibilities within the body as a precursor to other actions in the body. DHT can be triggered to bind to the hair bulb receptors. Triggers include hereditary factors, hormonal influences, environmental exposure and also free radical damage.
Once again this is not hair loss as in hair falling out. If you do not have a distinct hereditary pattern for your age then you need to investigate your hair cellular function and if your hair cycle has been disturbed, to weaken the immune system of the cell to allow the DHT in or if your health and gut immunity are compromised and allowing free radicals and environmental factors take effect on your health.
An easy check in is through pH testing, knowing your pH will teach you what your body is doing or not doing. pH is an insight to all that is working or not working in your body and must be known and understood to take natural DHT blockers, antioxidants and nutritional supplements that may be recommended for cellular health through nutrition.
